Med Center Therapy is excited for this new technology your exam will show you and your therapist objective measurements of spinal health. This non-invasive test will reveal signs of ‘muscle guarding’, or muscular tension caused by spinal muscles compensating for pain or spinal subluxations. The results are an Electrophysiological (EP) Test Score. You EP test score will sum up levels of tension at different points along your spine, as well as any imbalances along the vertebrae. Below is an example of an EP stress diagram:
Your evaluation may also include a test using the DynaROM, or Dynamic Range of Motion, functional test which measures both muscle guarding and range of motion simultaneously. This test may be used for patients as a result of soft tissue injuries such as car accidents or work injuries. Pain in these movements can be objectively quantified as opposed to subjectively verbalized by the patients. With DynaROM pain, range of motion, and muscle guarding are easily measured and tracked throughout the course of treatment. Below is a helpful video describing muscle guarding and the benefit of DynaROM in tracking spinal health.
